Beautiful Conn 514N metal clarinet in Bb. Dates to 1938. Don't confuse this clarinet with the vast numbers of cheap metal clarinets. Only the best metal clarinets made by Conn bore the Conn name. Cavalier was the entry level model and Pan American the mid grade level. The C.G. Conn was for the advanced player. This model was frequently selected for US military bands in the 1930s and 40s.
This example is silver plated with the interior of the bell being gold washed with real gold. Pads and corks need to be replaced and body and keys polished. Mouthpiece is the Conn Steelay in excellent shape without any chips in the facing. Interior velvet is still sound and has vibrant color. Many cases this old no longer have a handle or working latches but this one does. This clarinet is one if the best examples of a Conn 514N that I have handled.
