Before every country town had a Holden yard on the highway, the dealer's sign did the talking. This is the classic General Motors Dealer badge ā the red roundel with the gold GMH column and wings, "General Motors" arced across the top and "Dealer" across the bottom, with "Friendly Service" either side of the mark. It is pure 1950sā60s showroom nostalgia, and it looks every bit as good lit up in a shed as it did hanging out the front of a dealership.
Built as a round light box rather than a flat sign, the face sits proud in a dark rim so the illuminated logo reads like the real thing. The red field, gold column and bold white lettering stay crisp when it is switched on, with a warm, even glow across the whole face ā bright enough to be the focal point of a wall, soft enough to leave on in the evening.
