Note: Please study the images carefully to determine the condition of this vintage photograph, as it may not be in perfect condition. It may contain wrinkles, cracks, and possibly even tears due to its age and how it was handled before it got to us. A scanner may interpret colors and contrast differently than human eyes will, so it is possible that the actual photograph may be slightly darker or lighter in person.

1940 Press Photo Women at work in a Bata factory in Zlin - lrx77702

This is an original press photo. Women at work in one of the sixty units making up the Gigantic Bata establishment. In planning the factory at Belcamp, the company intended to follow its Zlin practice of employing boys and girls until they were 30, and then permitting them to return to their farms. Those who showed promise during their three years' apprenticeship would be retained as salesmen or executives. A dormitory system, in which the young workers would live under supervision, was part of the plan. Photo measures 9.25 x 7 inches. Photo is dated 01-16-1940.
