How It Works

This type of vintage vanity item utilizes a spring-loaded or hinged mechanical design:

1.  The Hidden Mirror: Pushing down on or sliding the gemstone clasp unlatches the main side panel, which flips open on a long side hinge to reveal a long, narrow grooming mirror built directly into the inner lid.

2.  The Lipstick Sleeve: Inside, there is a hollow metal sleeve intended to house a tube or block of solid lipstick. Sliding the exterior clasp upward pushes the lipstick mechanism out from the top of the case for application.
