Set thousands of years in the future, Dune is a board game based on Frank Herbert's novels about an arid planet at the centre of the human space empire's political and military struggles.
Designed by the creators of Cosmic Encounter, the game focuses heavily on player interaction, negotiation, alliances and bluffing.
Players take the role of one of the factions attempting to control the planet Dune. Each faction has unique special abilities that allow it to bend or ignore certain rules. During the game, players move around the map collecting valuable Spice while dealing with giant sandworms, deadly storms and the military forces of rival factions.
When combat occurs, players secretly commit their forces using the Battle Wheels, with Treachery cards adding another layer of uncertainty and strategy.
The game ends when one faction, or an allied group of factions, achieves the required control of strongholds on Dune.
