Vintage Coleman Model 275 Brown Double-Mantle Lantern

An original Coleman Model 275 pressure lantern, finished in the distinctive brown colourway with matching enamelled hood and carrying handle.

The lantern retains its original Coleman Model 275 badge, operating control, fuel cap and pump. It is fitted with a clear Coleman replacement glass globe, marked “Made in Mexico”, replacement number 5114-0481 and dated 0705.

The Model 275 was introduced during the 1970s and is now collected both as practical vintage camping equipment and for display.

This example has a wonderfully well-used, utilitarian appearance and would suit a Coleman collection, vintage camping display or industrial-style interior.

Please note that the lantern has not been filled, lit or pressure-tested by us and is therefore sold as untested. It may require cleaning, servicing, new mantles and/or replacement parts before use. It should be inspected by someone familiar with pressure lanterns before being fuelled or operated.

Condition
In well-used vintage condition with substantial surface corrosion, particularly around the frame, collar, handle and lower edge of the fuel tank. There is extensive loss and flaking to the brown painted/enamelled finish around the base and reverse of the tank, together with scratches, marks and general wear.

The hood has some small chips and marks but retains a comparatively good glossy finish. The printed operating label is worn and scratched but largely legible. The Coleman Model 275 badge remains present and displays well.

The clear glass globe is intact without any cracks or chips visible. It is a later Coleman replacement dated 2005 rather than the lantern’s original period glass. No mantles are fitted.

The lantern is untested and its working condition is unknown. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
