A vintage car stereo from the 1980s. When you watch the new wave of car restoration programmes and they've spent £000s on paintwork and interior retrims yet the whole effect is spoilt by the fitment of a totally inappropriate too modern headunit, wow how that grates! Do your pride and joy classic a favour and fit the correct period stereo, and enhance the appearance and value of your car in 10 minutes!

From the era before each car marque had its own branded stereo equipment, therefore this headunit will look good in all 80s and early 90s cars but in particular the Blaupunkt brand was fitted to premium German marques like BMW and Mercedes as they were a decent piece of kit.

This is one of the fancier Blaupunkt stereos and has a powerful 20 + 20w amp, a handle to remove from your fascia, auto reverse. It's not as topflight as a a Toronto or New York but was pricier than a Windsor or a London. It would suit a VW Golf MK2 GTI, a BMW 325i E30, a 528i E28, Porsche 924S or 944 LUX or Mercedes E- Class for example, but as I stress could be fitted to any whichsoever 80s 90s car you please.

Thankfully this is one of the few stereos I managed to test when I still had a trusty D-reg Mk2 GTI as my daily driver and my scribbles from well over a decade ago can still be read.

In excellent cosmetic condition, yes the LCD screen has bled as stated in my scribble but a wire wool down of the metal grab handle and end caps and fresh satin black paint and those stereo will look superb.

Now that modern classics like E30s and W124s are commanding serious prices, it will repay the owner to get this stereo restored and working should it transpire that it won't just plug in and play.

This has been stored in a dry attic for over twenty years.
