Janis Joplin and Her Band and the Grateful Dead Special Fillmore East San Francisco concert program with ticket stub for a weekend of concerts on February 11th and 12th 1969. Janis recently split from Big Brother and the Holding Company and these shows served as the New York debut of her new band, which later became know as the Cosmic Blues band. The Grateful Dead who normally headlined concerts opened for their friend as a show of support for her making these two nights of concerts unforgettable. This program has 28 pages and measures 5.5 X 8.5 and is like a 60's time capsule featuring many interesting period advertisements in it. The program is over 57 years old and was folded at one time and still has the fold mark and is priced accordingly.other than the fold this program is in really nice shape, no ink, tears, just some light wear on the back page and a light spot over the Little (see image) in the Bless it's Pointed Little Head advertisement. This program was handed out at the Fillmore East in New York City when entering the theatre on the night of the concert. It's important that as a collector, you know you're getting an authentic item and not a reprint! PS I spent many memorable nights at the Fillmore East. It was a very special theatre, where I was fortunate enough to witness some of the most incredible concerts that I have ever seen in my life. To those that went there….You know what I am talking about :) I will never forget that magical time, a time that we witnessed and were a part of that we will never see the likes of again. |
