This is a Carl Zeiss West Germany 5-position (quintuple) revolving nosepiece slider designed for polarizing (Pol) microscopy.
Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss (Oberkochen, West Germany). (Leitz used a distinct 38 mm slider profile with different locking lever mechanisms and font styles).
Part Number: Zeiss Catalog Number 47 31 50 (or variants such as 47 31 59 depending on internal optics/Telan lens options).
Function: Interchangeable quick-change nosepiece slide (Revolver auf Schlitten) with standard RMS thread ports for strain-free polarizing objectives.
Designator: The red "Pol" marking signifies that the housing and internal thread mounts are factory-aligned and optimized for strain-free polarized light applications. The side locking lever secures the slider within the upper dovetail mount of the stand.
Dovetail Standard: The ~33.5 mm outer dovetail and 30 mm inner channel dimensions match the standard Zeiss West slider track used across the flagship black-and-chrome modular series.
