Up for sale is a beautiful, remarkably rare piece of early animation history: a complete 8-piece set of vintage 1930s to 1940s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs figurines. Modeled closely on the iconic 1937 Walt Disney feature film, these figures are executed in a striking Art Deco-influenced style, featuring stylized expressions, angular molds, and integrated integral display plinths.
Unlike modern mass-produced plastic replicas, these authentic pieces are manufactured from classic, lightweight poured chalkware / plaster of Paris and decorated using traditional cold-painted enamel methods. This means the vibrant pigments were painted directly onto the unglazed surfaces after casting, leaving a beautiful matte texture that has aged with incredible historic character.
Please inspect the high-resolution photograph closely to satisfy yourself with the patina. This 80+ year old set is in good vintage condition with no major structural breaks or repaired cracks. In line with authentic early cold-painted items, there is widespread, heavy flaky wear to the enamel colors all around, exposing the white chalk/plaster body underneath. This gives the set a wonderful, un-tampered rustic finish. There is faint surface dust from display and expected minor baseline scuffs. Uncleaned and entirely un-restored to preserve the highly collectible original patina. Sold strictly as a set.
Due to the highly fragile nature of the historic flaky enamel paint and the delicate nature of vintage chalkware, these figures will be packed with professional care. Each character will be individually wrapped in multiple layers of soft, shock-absorbing bubble wrap and secured completely flat within a rigid cardboard box to prevent any shifting or rubbing during transit.
