Gorgeous early blue art glass bowl by Kent Forrest Ipsen, a pioneer of the American studio art glass movement. Heavy bright blue glass with contrasting splashes of color. Bowl stands 4 3/4 inches high and 7 5/8 inches in diameter. Signed on the bottom, Kent F. Ipsen '72. Excellent condition with no issues.


Ipsen (1933-2012) was one of Harvey Littleton’s first students in the 1960s. His work was included in the 1970 exhibition “New Objects” along with Dale Chihuly and Fritz Dreisbach, and in “New Glass: A Worldwide Survey of Studio Glass” in 1979, the first major survey of studio glass. He is represented in numerous museum collections including the Chicago Art Institute and the Smithsonian.
