This Sony DAB/FM, XDR-56DBP is the more elaborate version of the 50/55 series, encompassing DAB DAB+ , as per the label on the front of the radio. And gives access to a great number of stations.

Features are :- DAB/DAB+ (Band-111); Easy view, 2 line character dot LCD display.

Simple operation for station selection. Three Direct preset station buttons

Sleep timer and clock display. Stereo headphone jack

Battery or mains operated.

The radio is in excellent condition, no marks, dings, stains, breakages - but minor scratching on base where it rests - and totally clean. Though in fairness I should point out fading of the letters on the ‘clock’ button and the ‘light’ button to the right of the display panel, otherwise perfect. Battery compartment shows no sign of corrosion, (batteries are size AA, LR6, 1.5 V), and last according to the manual 13 hrs using Sony alkaline, which is much longer than the 55 series (8hrs), and could probably be bettered than that using lithium energizer. But the mains power unit is included in the sale which of course provides unlimited listening.
The aerial extends to 24”, and is of course undamaged.

Do not expect to get great volume from the speaker on the radio. The manual itself explains that it relatively subdued - so not a ghetto blaster.
Although there is no manual I have printed one off, albeit somewhat non-linear due to Sony’s on line lay out, but it will get you started.
Used daily though only for short periods for news, so be assured it works perfectly. The reason for selling is that I don’t listen to DAB stations, and I have another portable Sony and a JVC, so time to pass one or other on.
Not I would suggest great for carrying around in a pocket, as AI has it because of the earphone socket, but very handy for moving room to room.
