This Douglas DC-3 registered as NC28345 (MSN 3282) has a significant history as a civilian airliner that was pressed into military service during World War II.

Built for Delta Air Lines, it was, however, impressed (acquired) by the U.S. Army Air Forces (USAAF) before delivery.

Impressed on February 23, 1941, it was later sent to the 5th Air Force in Australia on September 4, 1942. It was used by the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) as VH-CDC and named "Miss Carriage" for ADAT (Allied Directorate of Air Transport), later loaned to 36 Squadron.
