This is a chance to own a rare original photographic stereoview dating to 1910. The image is part of a unique record of scenes in China as witnessed by a wealthy European businessman who arrived in Harbin in March 1910 on the Trans Siberian Express and then proceeded to travel through China as part of an adventurous circumnavigation of the globe. 

The images have been taken by this keen amateur photographer on equipment developed by Jules Richard in France, probably a Verascope, which allowed an amateur to create amazing three-dimensional views in the field. This image is on glass, using the 45x107mm format, which can be viewed individually in a hand-held viewer or in a multi-slide stereoscope such as the Taxiphote.

The images provide a fascinating glimpse of China at a pivotal point in history, shortly after the Russo-Japanese War and before the Warlord Era. This stereoscopic slide shows the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and is titled 'Peking the Temple of Heaven'.

Condition

Please note that this item is approximately 110 years old and has been used. Overall it is in fair/good condition but there may be marks / fading consistent with age and usage. Please refer to the photographs and do not hesitate to email if you have any questions prior to bidding.
