Offered here is a 72.7 gram slice of Mount Tazerzait L5 ordinary chondrite meteorite which was recovered in Tahoua, Niger on August 21, 1991.  Chondrites are the most common group of meteorites accounting for over 40% of meteorites catalogued.  The L designation indicates the low total iron content of the stone. While the 5 determines the degree that the stone underwent in heating to alter the chondrules.  The pictured slice measures about 80mm x 61mm x 6mm.  The Mount Tazerzait L5 chondrite is mentioned in the "Meteoritical Bulletin" #81 (1997).
