meteorite.  The Sikhote Alin fall happened on February 12, 1947 in Russia when nearly 100,000 kgs of the iron meteorite fell onto the Earth. The Sikhote Alin is classified as an iron llAB coarse octahedrite with high iron and nickel composition with other trace minerals.  The pictured iron meteorite measures approximately 50mm x 25mm x 10mm and is mentioned in the "NHMM Catalogue" 5th ed. (2000)
