Here is a 17.3 gram slice of the Putinga L6 ordinary chondrite. The Putinga meteorite was an observed fall in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul on August 16th, 1937.  A close strewn field with partially buried stones was found` that totaled nearly 300 kgs. were recovered.  The Putinga L6 ordinary chondrite is a olivine-hypersthene chondrite in the L6 group that when sliced reveal abundant light and earth-toned chondrules and widely spaced metal flecks.

The Putinga L6 is mentioned in the NHM Catalogue 5th ed. (2000). This fine example of a L-6 chondrite measures approximately 30mm x 36mm x 5mm and comes with a display case when purchased.
