Genuine period Manual of Map Reading & Field Sketching 1912 as used during the training of British infantry during the First World War.
The book covers: scale, methods of representing hill features, copying and enlarging maps, the service (prismatic) compass, methods of finding true north, map reading, general principles of sketching, sketching with a cavalry board, plane table sketching, aneroid barometer and more. Features drawings and diagrams throughout.
The book is in overall good original condition; however, there are some signs of wear (see pictures). It is complete with all pages and an officers name to the interior Capt. W.G. Forster. Published by His Majesty's Stationary Office in 1914.
