A truly unique Ordovician brachiopod fossil collected in L'Épiphanie, Québec, Canada. This remarkable specimen preserves a beautiful cf. Rhynchotrema sp. shell displaying an exceptional natural coloration, with deep black and warm orange tones creating a striking contrast rarely observed in these fossils.

The main brachiopod shell measures approximately 12 mm and is beautifully preserved with excellent detail. Beneath the main fossil, a partial underlying shell displays an extraordinary deep red coloration, a unique feature that I have personally observed only rarely through my experience collecting and preparing local Ordovician fossils.

The specimen also reveals a beautiful shell impression on the reverse side, adding another layer of natural history to this piece. A well-preserved fossilized plant fragment is clearly visible within the matrix, creating a fascinating association between ancient marine life and preserved organic remains.

Rhynchotrema is an extinct genus of articulate brachiopods that lived during the Late Ordovician. These marine animals inhabited shallow seas, where they rested on the seafloor and filtered microscopic food particles from seawater.

Although they resemble clams, brachiopods belong to their own distinct phylum (Brachiopoda) and have existed for more than 500 million years. Fossils from the Ordovician seas of Québec provide a remarkable window into ancient marine ecosystems that flourished hundreds of millions of years ago.

Un fossile d'une grande rareté provenant de L'Épiphanie, Québec, Canada, présentant un magnifique cf. Rhynchotrema sp. de l'Ordovicien. Ce superbe spécimen possède une coloration naturelle exceptionnelle, avec des teintes noires profondes et orangées offrant un contraste saisissant et rarement observé dans ces fossiles.

La coquille principale mesure environ 12 mm et présente une excellente conservation des détails naturels. Sous le fossile principal, une coquille partielle secondaire révèle une magnifique coloration rouge intense, une caractéristique unique que j'ai rarement observée au cours de mon expérience de collecte et de préparation de fossiles de l'Ordovicien local.

L'arrière de la pièce présente également une belle empreinte de coquille fossilisée, ajoutant une dimension supplémentaire à ce spécimen déjà exceptionnel.
