Because you have to have it. That's why. This is an incredibly clever dress that, unlike much French couture, reveres the beautiful Italy silk charmeuse – satin – it was made of. The exterior pockets are very cleverly made and attached – much like and I wonder if these are from shared inspiration with a Yohji Yamamoto black silk satin dress with a pocket – and of course a twist.
Anyway, the design has the pockets attached straight
across the grain of the silk sheath without cutting the dress. Instead, they’re
a self-contained unit, hung like a curtain but doubled and with welt style
entry, also well structured.
And there’s a sash.
The one problem I had is that the armholes were tight and
I am providing a measurement below so that you have better luck.
No wear. No dirt. No damage. Were I keeping it – still
could happen – I would wash it by hand starting with a vinegar-water soak. The
acid wash would take out some of the sheen and make the cloth softer.
There is no stretch, none. So allow at least 2” of ease
above the wearer’s measurements.
42” around underarms, waist and narrows to 41” around at
the hips and hem. 34” long from top of
shoulder to hem. The armholes are 16” around – this matters. 22” from
sleeve edge to the other across the shoulders. Pockets are 12” x 9.5”and start
about 18” down from the top of the shoulder.
I provide all this information so that you can get it and
love it, so I hope you use it. Please ask any questions – that helps me write
better listings.
The sewing form measures 38-30-39, FYI.
I am not a professional seller. I do this because I am
weak and must have money for shopping. So please check your measurements and
understand that I hope to avoid returns – tho I certainly will accept them,
and, unless if I've really made a mistake in the factual portion of the
description, I will ask you to share the shipping costs. I avoid future
relations with people who send things back worn or because they didn’t read the
description.
Please keep in mind that eBay keeps up to 20 percent of
each purchase for letting me – and you – use this wondrous platform. And that
the post office doesn’t ship free for me or eBay; eBay promotes promising it
because people think they’re getting a deal with ‘free shipping.’
I also shop here on eBay and try to behave like so many of
the great sellers and buyers I've had the privilege and good luck to deal with.
