A delightful Derby porcelain chocolate cup shaped side handles with moulded acanthus leaves across the thumb rest area and lower terminal. The cover with curved stepped edge and ring shaped knop with moulded acanthus leaves. The cup has a charming scene, superbly hand painted en camaieu, in sepia enamel, of three putti or young children in the woods, holding hands and dancing around a brazier. The other side has a bold gilt pattern of stylised flowers and foliage and matching decoration to the cover. Gilt rims and details to the handles and knop. Red painted mark, c.1825.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high with the cover on, 6.8cm (2 5/8") to the rim and 12cm (4 3/4") wide across the handles.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear. Some fine shrinkage lines under the glaze around the knop terminals from manufacture.
