Hello, while I was out scouring the mountains of Vermont searching for fresh to the market antiques I stopped in a quaint town with no cell service. While there I stumbled upon this wonderful vintage leather vest made by “Leather Brothers” of Plainfield, VT. Leather brothers was the beginning of Dan Freeman’s career, he is now located in Middlebury and specializes in fine hand made leather shoes. I had the pleasure of speaking with Dan and he confirmed that this vest was made in the summer of 71- spring of 72 due to the fact it’s marked leather brothers and more specifically Plainfield, VT as they were only in that location for a years time and then he changed his name soon after. Through a Google search you can easily find information on him like the fact that he was drafted during the Vietnam conflict, how he turned to leather working and is one of the few remaining cobblers in America (link below). It has a fantastic butterfly hinge type clasp that interlocks with a hand turned peg, like all of his pieces it was made to last several lifetimes.

I would say it is in very good condition considering its utilitarian purpose with minor scuffs and a stain on the back as can be seen in the photos. There are no foul smells.
