He was assigned as the Pilot for the COLUMBIA STS-40 Mission. But Astronaut Dave Griggs was killed in a Stunt Plane Crash and Blaha was assigned as to Replace him as the Pilot for DISCOVERY STS-33. Blaha also Flew on ATLANTIS STS-43 He also Flew on COLUMBIA STS-58 . He Flew on ATLANTIS STS-79 to the RUSSIAN MIR Space Station as a Board Engineer 2, he spent the following 4 months with the Mir 22 Cosmonaut crew conducting material science, fluid science, and life science research.
