A brilliantly nostalgic vintage Playwell tabletop Basketball Game for two players, dating from the 1980s and supplied in its original box.
This colourful mechanical action game has a yellow base, green basketball court, two white baskets and a clear protective dome. Each player uses the numbered red buttons at opposite ends of the court to launch the ball from eight different shooting positions and attempt to score in the opposing basket.
It is simple, competitive and surprisingly addictive — a lovely piece of pre-digital gaming nostalgia!
The game has been tested immediately before listing and plays well. The push-button mechanisms launch the ball around the court as intended.
Included in the sale:
• Playwell two-player Basketball Game
• Clear protective dome
• Two baskets and backboards
• Basketball
• Original illustrated box
The game itself is in great vintage condition. The colours remain bright, all numbered buttons are present and the clear dome is intact. There are some light marks, scuffs and surface scratches consistent with its age and previous play, but nothing that detracts significantly from its appearance or enjoyment.
The original box remains colourful and very presentable. It has expected vintage storage wear including rubbing, creasing and wear around the edges and corners, with a more noticeably worn corner shown clearly in the close-up photographs.
Made in Hong Kong and distributed by Hong Kong Toy Centre Ltd.
Item number: 012062.
The original box states that the game is suitable for two players and ages three and over. Due to its age, it is being offered primarily as a vintage collectable and should be used with appropriate supervision.
Please study all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description. Everything included in the sale is shown.
The game and its original box will be carefully protected inside a separate sturdy outer box for posting.
