An authentic Victorian antique keepsake or sewing work box crafted from beautifully figured rosewood veneer. The lid features its original mother-of-pearl round corner dots and a central rectangular cartouche, all framed by elegant pewter wire line inlay. The base is constructed from traditional solid pine.

This charming box is being sold strictly as a restoration project or a rustic decoration piece .

(Please read carefully & view photos)

The rosewood veneer has a lovely genuine patina. The mother-of-pearl and pewter inlays are intact. The front keyhole escutcheon is missing.

Retains its original faded magenta/mauve textured paper lining, which shows heavy wear, bubbling, and lifting from age. The original removable top tray is missing.

There is a significant, clean shrinkage split running down the center seam of the pine baseboard due to age-related drying (see photos). This does not prevent the box from sitting flat.
The original brass mortise lock is present, but there is no key.

An excellent, honest restoration piece with great potential. Sold as seen.
