Tales From Many Sources - 4 volumes - includes short stories by Thomas Hardy (The Three Strangers), Arthur Conan Doyle (Bones), RL Stevenson (The Pavilion On The Links), Wilkie Collins (She Loves & Lies) and many other writers of the late 19th Century.

Published by Dodd Mead & Company in 1885 this collection of stories by popular writers was successful enough that they published a further two volumes the next year. The story "Bones" by Arthur Conan Doyle was the first work of his to be published in a book.

This set is Volumes 1 to 4 complete and all volumes are in very good condition. The corners and spine tips are slightly worn with the heads of spines just starting to fray. The boards are quite clean with a minor blemish to the front of Vol 3. All hinges are intact with no cracking. There is a bookplate of Leon L. Straus on the front pastedown of each volume and Vol 1 has a few bookseller notes in pencil on the pastedown and ffep. The gilt on the front and spine still shines. Overall a very good and collectible set.
