ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE - The Great Shadow - Arrowsmith's Christmas Annual 1892 - 1st edition !

The very first edition of Conan Doyle's novel The Great Shadow was published as a paperback in 1892 by publisher JW Arrowsmith as their Christmas Annual for 1892. This precedes any later publications by Arrowsmith. This edition included advertisements at the front and rear and these are usually missing from copies which have been bound.

    This copy appears to have a homemade binding using the faux leather wrapper from a rate book which has been cut to size and then glued to the original outer wrappers. The original adverts and text have moderately soiled edges but the pages themselves have survived well. A rare item, especially as complete as this copy.
