This is a vintage "Texan" Nut Sheller. This piece is made by the York Nut-Sheller Co. in the USA. This specifically is the Texan model. The device is meant to bite the shell off of nuts leaving the meat whole. The shield is there to help prevents the shells from scattering everywhere. It measures about 7.5" long and is made of all metal. The sheller is in great shape and moves smoothly when squeezed. the exterior cardboard box and insert have wear from age and use.
