Antique Mauchline Ware Floral Tatting Shuttle Scotland * Circa 1890 This antique tatting shuttle is made of "green wood", thought to be sycamore wood dyed with iron oxide. It would have been manufactured in Mauchline Scotland by Archibald Brown. One side has a colored transfer of violets and forget me nots. The condition is excellent without even a ding. There are no chips, cracks or other damage. There is no wobble and it has touching points. It measures almost 3 1/4" long by 3/4" wide. Pam Palmer shows this shuttle on p. 41 of her book Tatting Shuttles, Related Tools & Accessories. The light weight of these shuttles makes them popular to actually use.
