A carved wooden ceremonial mask with openwork eyes, attached animal hide eye brows and mustache, evidence it also once had a beard, and traditional reddish pigment. This is a very large mask that would easily fit an adult dancer. The mask overall has a very well weathered and worn surface.

Makonde or possibly neighboring ethnic group such as Sukuma peoples, Tanzania, Africa.

Fair, well used, old repairs and signs of field use. What remains is stable.
