1954 DENVER EQUIPMENT COMPANY HANDBOOK Metallurgists Bible Mining Mill
Also known as The DECO Engineers Handbook No. 1,
this hardcover book is considered one of the most definitive and valuable
reference manuals in the history of mineral processing and metallurgy. Stretching
over 800 pages, this small but dense (6 3/8” x 3.5” x 1.75”) volume combines a
corporate equipment catalog with an extensive practical textbook for mining
engineers, mill operators, and metallurgists. Famous for containing such
comprehensive foundational physics, math, and chemical engineering formulas
that industry professionals frequently claim an intelligent amateur could
design and build a functional ore-processing mill entirely from scratch using its
pages. Unlike standard corporate catalogs, it focuses heavily on
troubleshooting, calculations, and field guides—ranging from pulp density
charts and flotation circuit flowsheets to water-requirement estimates for
mills.
Major Sections and Content:
Because DECO was later acquired by Joy Manufacturing
and its original physical publications went out of print, the 1954 handbook is
a prized collector's item for mining historians and a functional reference
still actively sought out by small-scale operators and modern engineering
students.
