This antique wooden Rehal (also spelled Rihal) is a traditional folding stand used to support and display the Holy Quran during reading and recitation. Hand-carved from a single piece of wood, it features an elegant folding X-frame construction and is decorated throughout with incised concentric-circle motifs, a design found in various regions of the Islamic world.
The rich patina, visible wear, and traces of long use attest to its age and authenticity. Beyond its practical function, the Rehal served as a respected object within the home, mosque, or religious school, reflecting the importance accorded to the Quran in Islamic culture.
