Built with an aerospace-grade aluminum alloy housing and 20CrMnTi alloy steel drive shafts, this angle head delivers 4KW of cutting power at 5000 RPM with a maximum torque of 40Nm, making it suitable for face milling, slotting, drilling, and light roughing operations on steel, aluminum, and cast iron workpieces.

Featuring a CAT40 spindle taper input with standard pull stud, the angle head mounts directly onto any CAT40-equipped VMC in seconds using the machine's automatic tool changer or manual insertion. The 1:1 direct gear drive transmits full spindle power to the ER32 collet output, accepting tools from 2mm to 20mm diameter. The angle body can be rotated and locked in 1° increments from 0° to 90° via the positioning ring and locking bolt system, allowing cutting at any angle along the vertical-to-horizontal arc. Grease-lubricated spiral bevel gears ensure quiet, smooth power transmission with minimal maintenance requirements.

• 1. Installation onto Spindle: Clean the CAT40 taper on the angle head and the machine spindle bore. Insert the angle head into the spindle until the taper seats fully. Engage the drawbar to secure the pull stud. Verify that the angle head is firmly seated by gently attempting to rotate it by hand.
• 2. Angle Adjustment: Loosen the positioning ring locking bolt. Rotate the angle body to the desired cutting angle (0° to 90°) using the engraved scale as reference. Tighten the locking bolt securely. Install the anti-rotation stop bar against the positioning ring to prevent movement during cutting.
• 3. Tool Installation: Insert an ER32 collet of the appropriate size into the output spindle. Install the cutting tool into the collet. Thread the collet nut onto the spindle and tighten using the provided spanner wrench. Verify the tool protrusion is adequate for the intended cutting depth.
• 4. Programming: Set the CNC program to use the angle head tool number. Program standard XY feed moves for side-wall machining. The Z-axis controls depth of cut. Use conservative feed rates (50-70% of normal) for the first operation. Adjust speeds and feeds based on tool manufacturer recommendations and material being cut.
• 5. Operation: Start the spindle at the programmed RPM (do not exceed 5000 r/min). Engage the workpiece with a shallow initial cut (0.5-1mm). Monitor cutting sound and chip formation. Adjust feed override as needed. For slotting operations, use conventional milling (climb milling not recommended for deep slots).
• 6. Removal and Storage: Stop the spindle. Retract to safe Z-height. Release the drawbar and remove the angle head. Clean coolant and chips from the housing. Store in the tool magazine or on a padded rack. Apply a light coat of rust preventive oil to exposed steel surfaces.

• 1. Speed Limit: Do not exceed 5000 r/min. Exceeding the rated speed can cause bearing failure, gear damage, or tool ejection. Always verify the programmed RPM before cycle start.
• 2. Torque Limit: Maximum cutting torque is 40Nm. Do not take depths of cut that overload the gears. Use conservative feeds for materials harder than HRC30. Listen for gear distress sounds (chattering, grinding) and reduce load immediately if detected.
• 3. Secure Mounting: Verify the CAT40 taper is fully seated and the drawbar is engaged before every operation. A loose angle head can drop from the spindle, causing severe damage and injury.
• 4. Angle Lock: Always tighten the positioning ring locking bolt and install the anti-rotation stop bar before cutting. A loose angle body can rotate under cutting force, destroying the workpiece and tool.
• 5. Chip Clearance: The angle head extends significantly from the spindle face. Verify adequate clearance to fixtures, workpiece clamping, and machine enclosure before rapid positioning moves. Program a safe Z-height for all non-cutting moves.
• 6. Coolant: Flood coolant is recommended for steel and stainless steel cutting. The sealed gearbox is protected against coolant spray, but avoid directing high-pressure coolant streams directly at the gearbox seals.
• 7. Tool Balance: Use balanced collets and tools. Unbalanced tools at high RPM cause vibration that damages bearings and produces poor surface finish. Check tool protrusion does not exceed 4x diameter.
• 8. Inspection: Before each use, inspect the angle head for cracks, loose fasteners, or abnormal wear. Check the CAT40 taper for nicks or scoring. Do not use if damage is found.
• 9. Training: This tool is for trained CNC machinists only. Operators must understand CNC programming, cutting parameters, and machine safety before using this angle head.
• 10. Maintenance: The gearbox is sealed and pre-lubricated. Do not attempt to open the gearbox. If lubrication service is required, contact an authorized service center.

Returns & Exchanges

• All returns must be made within 14 days of delivery date. Items must be in new, unused condition, with all original materials included with the shipment. A partial refund may be applied for opened or damaged items, depending on the condition.
