This antique Victorian-era paper receipt hook is crafted from cast brass and features a wonderfully ornate, stylized triangular backplate with Art Nouveau and geometric design elements. It comes equipped with a built-in keyhole slot at the top for easy wall mounting. Extending from the bottom center is a long, curved, sharp iron or steel spike, measuring roughly 4.5 inches long altogether. Dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, this functional piece of office hardware was a staple in general stores, hotels, and merchant offices. Instead of taking up desk space, clerks hung these on the wall to spike and organize sales slips, daily receipts, and paid bills. This item is in excellent antique condition, showing a beautiful, authentic aged patina to the brass. It has not been polished. The spike remains firmly attached and sharp. It is an amazing cross-over collectible perfect for industrial office decor, country general store displays, or as a unique conversation piece in a modern home workspace!
