The stylized bird stands on an ornate pedestal base and is finished in a warm ivory or cream color. Hand-painted floral decoration in muted lavender, gray, green, and brown complements the carved-look feather pattern. Darkened "crackling" lines and intentionally distressed details give it a wonderfully aged folk-art appearance.
One side features a decorative New York-style postal cancellation marked “1 PM, 11 OCT 1987.” This appears to be part of the nostalgic design rather than a manufacturing mark. The original underside label reads:
