Description
Thailand Ayutthaya antique bronze buddha in the U-Thong style -
15th century
Well cast, seated in dhyanasana over a low base; hands in bhumisparsha mudra, clad in a sanghati draped over the left shoulder; face has downcast, benevolent expression; wide mouth and nose with heavily-lidded eyes under a sinuous brow; tightly curled hair over the flaming ushnisha; left palm and feet are modeled with a flower head.
Condition: age wear & tear - dent / warp; holes; casting flaws; metal split / crack nibble bits missing; some loss to base rim and body (see 24 photos as part of condition detail), otherwise good structural equilibrium - sits firmly balanced on a flat surface, displays nicely - no need for professional metal repair.
Size: 18cm (7 inches) high, 13cm (5 inches) wide across the base
