This is a Noh mask depicting a real snake, approximately half the size of a standard mask.

The artist studied under Nagasawa Muneharu, the second son of Nagasawa Haru—a Living National Treasure and master Noh mask maker—and all of his works follow the Nagasawa school. He has exhibited at numerous exhibitions over the years and has won several awards. (The smaller version is an original creation by his father, made by scaling down a Nagasawa school mould.)
