Greetings from South Florida ~ Here we offer for your consideration ~ A "2" Piece Lot of Ancient Olmec & Mayan Stone and Clay artifacts. The Olmec piece looks to be made of stone and looks to be that of a monkey head fragment. The detail is true to life, and the piece is heavy. The other artifact is a Mayan Clay human effigy and from the back it looks to have been once used as a cup, in which was used for ceremonial or religious purposes. Believed to possibly be for a fertility offering. As it is fashioned to look as if she is holding a child in front of her. The Olmec piece was excavated in the 1940's in what is now Vera Cruz by a professor of archaeology with the University Of Florida. The Olmec existed from 1200 BC to 400 BC.
