This sweet little piece from the late 1930's to early 1940's is made from a lightweight rayon fiber weave fabric, featuring a busy floral-meets-paisley print in mainly green, with yellow, white and purple hues. The best aspect of this dress is the wonderful smocking (at neck and waist), which really accommodates and compliments a variety of curvaceous -or not- body types. This is a genius move, design-wise, and would allow for wear over many years of a person's changing body. Aside form the smocking, this shirtdress has lots of wonderful little details; darts at shoulder for light puff action, more darting at waistline for a slightly more tailored fit, plus self-fabric belt loops at either side waist, which blend into the main body nicely (sorry, original belt not still present). This dress is unlined, and without pockets, unfortunately. Original labels are also missing. Overall condition is good to very good, with quite a few small signs of wear; stress to fabric at buttonholes (which I have hand-finished in cotton floss thread to mitigate stress and secure fit), stress to left underarm area, major repair via patch to smocking at right side of neckline, patch repair to center back neckline, repaired seams throughout (which means I've already checked them!), not noticeable/fairly hidden rust-colored small stains at back right sleeve, and some paint missing from buttons -please review photographs for full details.
