The design of the part has  been improved with one seal and exposed fluid passage area to prevent any possible clogging by the metals shavings .

This part does not rust .  It is original design for AW transmission .


below is the description of the problem that you will be able to correct with the installation of this part

PROBLEM:  The engine revs are high and the car is drive-able.  BUT the transmission will not come out of Overdrive (3rd gear). It feels like the car is stuck in low gear at speed.

The transmission normally shifts through the gears  1-2-3-4.   When you push the overdrive button in your car, transmission shifts back to -3-  gear, by closing the OVERDRIVE solenoid and restricting the flow of fluid, and shifting the band inside of the transmission.

If the car transmission solenoid (overdrive) is restricted - cars only shifts to 1-2-3 -
when you install the block plate you will be able to shift through all the gears 1-2-3-4

This condition is caused by the overdrive solenoid, that has gotten contaminated with the metal shavings particles from automatic transmission fluid. Fluid is passing through the solenoid when the overdrive is not activated ( port is open) and the metal shavings that are present in the fluid  are building  up around  the magnet  of the solenoid, preventing it from moving permanently.

The particles are very fine, so there is no way to clean out the solenoid - a replacement should be purchased and installed.

The dilemma with the replacement part: it may come at the cost between $86 and $186, but there is a PROBLEM WITH SIMPLY REPLACING THE  SOLENOID:

This NEW solenoid, that you may purchase will get contaminated by the metal  particles that are still  in the transmission within  100 miles of driving or less. That means: the transmission will stop functioning again.

UNLESS YOU ARE COMPLETELY RE-CONDITIONING THE TRANSMISSION FOR YOUR RWD TOYOTA, YOU SHOULD GET A SOLENOID BLOCK OFF PLATE FROM US

PLEASE NOTE- THE SOLENOID BLOCK OFF PLATE REMOVES THE OVERDRIVE FUNCTION FROM YOUR TRANSMISSION PERMANENTLY

SO

if you are willing to drive without the OVERDRIVE  function - we have permanent solution. Replace the overdrive solenoid with the blocking plate as pictured


The cast aluminum OE AW blocking plate that we are offering is properly designed for the particular application and ready for the installation. It includes a properly fitted gasket and two installation bolts. Just remove 2 bolts that are holding the existing solenoid in place and install solenoid backing plate in its place.
