CAROUSEL 1 LOTUS 38 — #82 JIM CLARK — 1965 INDIANAPOLIS 500 WINNER 1:18 Scale Diecast | Model #5201 | Limited to 9,999 Pieces | 2003
THE CAR Jim Clark's Lotus Type 38 is one of the most important cars in Indianapolis history — the first rear/mid-engine car to win the Indy 500. Clark started on the front row alongside A.J. Foyt and Dan Gurney, took the lead after Foyt's challenge ended around lap 116, and drove #82 to a decisive win at a record 150.686 mph, breaking the front-engine roadster era for good.
THE MODEL Carousel 1 built its reputation on museum-grade Indy replicas, and the Lotus 38 is among its most sought-after releases. British Racing Green with the Team Lotus yellow stripe, matched to the restored car in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum, with a red cockpit echoing the original upholstery. Highlights include full engine and cockpit detail, removable engine cover, clear-faced gauges, detailed wire suspension, four upswept yellow exhaust stacks, and Firestone-marked tires on correct period wheels. Officially licensed by Classic Team Lotus and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum. Carousel 1 is no longer in production, so these are no longer being made.
