The blurb introduces Desolation Road as a tiny, remote town somewhere on the line from here to Wisdom, in a future where miracles happen every day. Its strange history begins with a greenperson and expands into a catalogue of wonders, including Adam Black’s travelling Chautauqua, an air bazaar, Comet Tuesday, and the first manned time trip in history. The town is populated by eccentric figures such as Dr Alimantando, Persis Tatterdemalion, and Rajandra Das. The book presents a fantastical and highly unusual Martian setting filled with bizarre events and characters.
