Lovely majolica fruit serving basket by George Jones with large double compartments. The rims are modelled as branches rising to a large strap handle and set on four twisted branch form feet. The inside of the basket has a textured finish with the classic George Jones turquoise ground and covered with moulded strawberry flowers, runners and leaves. Trailing strawberry runners also twine around the handle, rims and feet, along with some small strawberry flowers dotted to each foot.
Impressed factory mark and diamond registration mark for 1876 along with black painted model number 3329. A version with side pots for sugar and cream (model 3300) is illustrated in figure 70, George Jones Ceramics 1861-1951, Robert Cluett.
It measures 28cm (11") by 20.3cm (8") wide and 17.8cm (7") high.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear.
