Frank Edward Zuccarelli was an American artist known for paintings of rural living and natural landscapes. He served in WWII in the Marine Corps, with his experiences and sights in service influencing his art during the time. Zuccarelli went on to become the official artist for the navy from 1968-1981, and also taught art. His work has been exhibited around the country as well as internationally across Canada, France, Italy, China, and Russia.
This is a beautiful oil painting on board depicting a white and brown saddled horse resting under the shade of a lone tree. Dappled, gestural brushstrokes contribute to the lovely impressionist style for a refreshing, easy-going atmosphere. Signed lower left. Presented matted and glazed in a brown frame.
