Harry Gottlieb (1895–1993) was a Romanian-born American painter, screenprinter, and educator who immigrated to the U.S. in 1907 and later studied at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. He became a Social Realist painter influenced by Robert Henri's movement in New York, worked in scenic and costume design, and was a pioneer in screen printing while working for the WPA. Gottlieb, who was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1931, remained active in painting and screen printing even after the Federal Art Project ended.
