Description:
Up for sale is a rare, authentic matching pair of vintage Soviet industrial-grade heavy-duty joystick controllers.
These robust input devices were manufactured in the USSR during the late Soviet era for high-reliability applications, such as specialized engineering workstations, CAD systems, CNC machinery, or computing terminal control panels. With their massive construction and distinctive aesthetic, they are perfect for retro-computing collectors, hardware museum displays, or tech enthusiasts looking for an ultimate custom STEM/Arduino USB DIY project.
Design & Mechanical Construction:
The Handles: Each vertical flight-stick style handle is wrapped in a thick cylinder of dark brown textolite (a signature Soviet resin-bonded fabric laminate) featuring a prominent metal push-button integrated into the top crown.
The Bases: Heavyweight, rectangular matte black metal chassis with an industrial textured finish. Each base is equipped with two additional round, non-latching metal push-buttons.
The Undersides: Sealed with solid aluminum plates, secured by classic flat-head machine screws, and resting on thick rubber isolation feet for a slip-free desktop grip.
Technical Interface Details (The Connectors):
While the two joysticks share identical rugged enclosures and mechanical layouts, they feature different heavy-duty factory connector variants, making this pair highly versatile for hardware researchers:
Joystick No. 1 (РШ2Н Interface): Terminates in a heavy zinc/aluminum alloy РШ2Н-1-23 connector housing a carbolite insert with 12 flat knife-style pins (2 rows of 6 pins). The metal casing displays the standard factory logotype and batch stamps.
Joystick No. 2 (РП15 Interface): Terminates in a premium РП15-15ШВКВ high-density rectangular D-sub style connector featuring 15 round pins. This connector shell displays a hand-applied green "ОТК 26" (State Quality Control Department) ink stamp,
verifying its rigorous industrial certification.
Internal Inspection & Build Quality (Opened View):
To ensure complete transparency for collectors and engineers, the internal mechanical and electrical assembly has been fully documented (as shown in image_9.png - 15.png):
Commutation Board: The main directional switching assembly is built on a heavy-duty caprolon/plexiglass insulating plate.
It features a robust, open mechanical cross-contact system made of thick, high-conductivity spring-metal plates.
No complex integrated circuits or solid-state electronics — just pristine, indestructible mechanical contact logic.
Internal Components & Buttons: Inside the upper chassis housing, you can see the solid brass pivot assembly for the main stick and two heavy-duty industrial button enclosures. The wiring from the top-crown stick button feeds perfectly through
the central metal pivot shaft.
Wiring & Wire-Harnessing: The internal wiring represents classic high-standard Soviet industrial craftsmanship. The entire wire loom is neatly bundled using a traditional black thread-whipped lacing technique. The main cable passes securely through a flexible rubber strain-relief grommet.
Original Factory Paper Tags: Proving its untouched and authentic state, the internal wiring still retains its original, fragile factory paper inspection tags labeled "Д6" and "Д7" attached directly to the loop leads.
Condition & Technical Status (PLEASE READ):
Testing Status: These joysticks have NOT been tested for functionality due to the lack of compatible vintage
Soviet hardware interfaces.
Operational Condition: Because they are completely untested, they are being sold strictly AS-IS / FOR PARTS OR NOT WORKING. No guarantees or warranties are provided regarding their electronic performance, wiring continuity,
or operational readiness.
Cosmetic Condition: Both units are in very good, untouched, and completely original vintage cosmetic condition. They present beautiful signs of light, honest usage, including minor paint nicks along the sharp lower metal corners and authentic surface scuffs/seam wear on the textolite handles, characteristic of handled vintage instruments.
Cables & Mechanics: The cream-colored rubber cords remain remarkably flexible, fully intact, and free of dry rot. The mechanical joysticks click cleanly, providing stiff, positive, and tactile directional feedback. One bottom screw is missing from the underside of the РП15 unit, but the remaining 7 screws across both bases are completely secure.
Shipping & Handling:
