1950 Bowman #108 Ray Scarborough G+ Washington Senators Pitcher. Scarborough was born July 23, 1917 in Mount Gilead, North Carolina. He had a 10 year Major League career that started on June 26, 1942 with the Senators. He served in the military (1944 and '45) during WWII. He returned to the Senators in 1946 where continued to pitch into the 1950 season. He finished the 1950 season with the Chicago White Sox. He made his only All Star appearance that season. He was acquired by the Boston Red Sox in 1951. After winning 12 games, he was sold to the New York Yankees toward the end of the 1952 season. He went 5 - 1 helping the Yankees clinch the 1952 world championship. He split his last season between the yankees and the Detroit Tigers. He made his final "Big League" playing appearance on September 25, 1953 with the Tigers. This card fits into a lower grade set due to the vertical scratch from the "W" in his hat down to his eyebrow.
