1950 Bowman #103 Eddie Joost EX/NM Philadelphia Athletics Shortstop. Joost was born on June 5, 1916 in San Francisco, California. He made his Major League debut on September 11, 1936 with the Cincinnati Reds. He had a 17 year "Big League" career. He spent the 1938 season with the New York Yankees Minor League affiliate in Kansas City. He was back with the Reds in 1939 thru 1942. During the off season, he was traded to the Boston Braves. He spent 1944 in the military during WWII. He returned to the Braves for the '45 season. He was with Rochester of the International League in 1946. He spent the next 8 seasons with the Athletics. He was their player-manager in 1954. The 2X All Star (1949 and '52) spent his last season with the Boston Red Sox.
His last MLB playing appearance was on September 25, 1955 with them. In 1956, he retired after spending the season as a player-manager for the Pacific Coast League San Francisco Seals.
