1950 Bowman #44 Joe Dobson VG/EX Boston Red Sox Pitcher. Dobson was born January 20, 1917 in Durant, Oklahoma. He made his Major League debut on April 26, 1939 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1941, he was traded to the Boston Red Sox. His baseball career was interrupted by WWII. He served in the U.S. Army in 1944 and '45. He returned to the BoSox in 1946 and pitched thru the 1950 season. He was named to the 1948 American League All Star team. Dobson pitched for the Chicago White Sox from 1951 into the 1953 season. He returned to the Boston Red Sox for the 1954 season and made his final "Big League" playing appearance on April 30, 1954 for them. He is a member of the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
