1950 Bowman #89 George "Red" Munger VG- St. Louis Cardinals Pitcher. Munger was born October 4, 1918 in Houston, Texas. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1943 with the Cardinals. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in mid 1944. After serving during WWII, he returned to the Cardinals in 1946. He was 3X All Star with the Redbirds. He was traded in May 1952 to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates sent him to the Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League in 1953. He won 17 games in 1954 and 23 games in 1955 for the Stars. He returned to the Pirates in 1956 where he finished his "Big League" playing career on September 23rd. This card fits into a mid-grade set. The card has NICE GLOSS and a CLEAN BACK.
